Area History:
The area East of Kennedy Blvd. West and south of 79th Street in North Bergen is called the "Woodcliff" section of North Bergen, NJ. This tract of land was developed by the "Woodcliff Land Improvement Corporation" around 1910. It is rummered that the land between Park Ave. and Hudson Ave. was swampland and was filled in. A trolley line, the BERGEN LINE, ran along BergenLine Avenue. The Nungessers hotel once sat where the current dinner & White Castle are on BergenLine Ave. At this intersection, the criminals were hung on a platform. The "80'th St Park" or "Hudson County Park" is actually just one of the Hudson County parks and is called "North Hudson Braddock Park". It was named after a famous boxer that lived in North Bergen. PLEASE! If you have any more history/interesting facts about the area, email the webmaster!!! Thanks!
Store History:
7301 Broadway has had different owners throughout the years. The building was built by a butcher and his brother in the early 1900's. It became a fish market(?-late 1970's) then it became a Fruit/Vegetable store. A fire closed the building for a while until it was re-opened as a grocery store around 1982. It has since changed owners a couple of times.
