Modems

The Modems Control Panel utility can
detect and configure one or more modems
attached to your computer:

If you see a modem already listed in the dialog box
shown below, Windows has detected and installed it
automatically. You can close the dialog shown here.
Return to the main procedure and go to Install
Dial-Up Networking.

To add a new modem, see below:

Adding a new modem

Windows 95 detects some serial and most 'PCMCIA'
notebook modems automatically. If your modem
list is blank (as shown in the picture above), click
the Add button (where the mouse cursor is pointing).

If you have an internal modem or an external serial
modem, choose "Other" on the next menu and click Next>.
Windows 95 will automatically choose a manufacturer and model.

To choose the manufacturer and model, yourself, place
a checkmark in the "Don't detect my modem" box.
A second dialog (shown below) allows you to make
your own selection.

Once your modem has  been installed, you can continue
to set up your Internet connection. You can also
customize or fine-tune the modem's configuration.
