The government finished building a health clinic last year, but doctors don't visit regularly and the town's only nurse, Pearl Watson, had to move to Bluefields to make a living. Several patients at Monkey Point, she says, have died for want of medical care or transport.

Last year I believe a child got poisoned, and the child died. No help, couldn't get to Bluefields. Couldn't do anything. Died at el Bluff, couldn't reach in time.
