Doug Nufer

About the Poet

Doug Nufer's latest novel is Never Again, portions of which appear in clear-cut anthology and VORTEXT. Recent work also appears in AMERICAN BOOK REVIEW and THE NATION.

Other than that, I've been writing for the WASHINGTON FREE PRESS and ART ACCESS, I did lots of stuff for THE STRANGER, and an article that ran in SPORTS ILLUSTRATED financed the research for my 1990 Guide To Northwest Minor League Baseball (Sammamish). Ten years ago after writing ten novels that made some effort to conform to what publishers wanted, I began to base my fiction on inventive methods such as formal constraints.

The excerpt from Negativeland is governed by a simple constraint. Never Again is a novel with a more difficult rule to follow.
