The Astrological Forecast for JANUARY 2001

By Leo Knighton Tallarico

Our human family is entering a new year, and the true new century and millennium. Autumn of 2000 showed us all the many challenges facing us as we enter this new era. The election debacle in America, the most influential society in the world; and the war-like tensions surrounding Jerusalem, arguably the religious capital of the world, have been revealing to us the shake-up of the foundation of our earthly human culture. America has represented a great hope for humanity, an idealistic dream of freedom, equality, justice, and the “pursuit of happiness” for all. Jerusalem has represented the potential for integration of religious and spiritual differences, as it is a center for the “major” religions of the world. The American election showed us the corruption of its legal and political system, how money and power have eclipsed the traditional values; the conflicts in the Middle East show us how far away from love, compassion, and truth many religious people have gone.

Revolution and Spiritual Renaissance are here now; the breakdowns and shakeups of the old world will eventually serve to re-connect us to higher and deeper laws, principles, and values that will provide a foundation for entry into a new world and age.

January 1, 2001 has Mars in Scorpio square Neptune in Aquarius; so straightforward, aggressive action will be pushing up against huge swells of water.

That means there is not much chance of “scoring points” or hitting the bull's eye. Try “going with the flow” and penetrating into deeper emotional and spiritual issues instead. We enter the 2nd quarter moon, in Aries, on the 2nd, stimulating a potential conflict between cautious control and “just do it”. On the 3rd Venus travels into dreamy Pisces for a monthof deep soul connections with others. Sacrifice is not her true purpose, but surrender is. On the 5th she (Venus in Pisces) squares high-minded Jupiter in Gemini. The Goddess of Love is aggravated out of her romantic feelings by rapid-fire chatter. Late on the 6th, while the moon spins fast in Gemini, Mercury slows down the pace with a trine to serious Saturn. Time to be practical, logical, and decisive now.

The 9th , and surrounding days, are influenced by the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn/Cancer at 1:24 PM, MST. Eclipses are more powerful than the usual new or full moons; one can expect possible breakdowns of status quo and breakthroughs into new horizons. This particular eclipse may have parental issues in focus, as well as issues of security, both inner and outer. Balancing professional concerns with domestic and personal ones is also important now. The intensity of the event can last a few days. On the 10th Mercury leaves practical Capricorn, and enters inventive Aquarius for a few weeks of circulating ideas and principles in networks. Energies from the recent eclipse are waning on the 13th, hile the Sun has its brightness toned down, just enough by its trine to “downer” Saturn, to feel the weight of added responsibility.

The 4th quarter moon slows things down even more on the 16th, while in Libra. Venus squares Pluto and trines Mars in Scorpio late that evening to highlight romantic encounters. While some may want to keep relating in a civilized manner, it is more “in tune” to “get down” to it tonight.

The Sun moves into “odd-ball” Aquarius on the 19th at 5:16PM, MST. It is a month to begin to leave the safe structures of Capricorn for the social change of Aquarius. Aquarius requires liberation from confinement and desires uncensored circulation of thoughts and ideas. It is de-centralized and abhors kings and queens who want to put themselves above other people. Aquarius seeks to give all humans voice in the greater community, and to create a society that is raised above mere biological necessity. It is a Promethean power to give the Fire of choice and voice to the human family, so we can decide our own fate. Aquarius is quite idealistic and firm to principle. The 20th is inauguration dayin America and George Bush is being initiated as the 43rd president today. The north node of the moon, in Cancer, close to his natal Sun, gives a sense of Destiny to him. He will be president during a crisis period for America and its way of life. On the 22nd Mercury conjuncts Uranus in Aquarius, giving a boost to clever ideas and thinking.

The 24th/25th brings a major turning point that may feel as if the hand of time and fate is reaching into all of our lives, pushing us forward. It is time to “move on”. There are many aspects reflecting this: a New Moon in Aquarius closely conjunct Neptune; Saturn moves stationary direct; and Jupiter goes stationary direct. Additionally, it is Chinese New Year and the beginning of the year of the Snake. There have been many dramatic events and changes since the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in May 2000, that shook up our lives and the old paradigm we have been operating under. Now we know that the old world is disappearing, the “rules” of living are changing, and it is time to move forward with our lives. If any are still trying to keep the past alive, they will be shocked out of status quo now.

Don't look back, go with courage forward; we are part of the Universal movement into a New World together. On the 27th Mars in Scorpio squares Uranus in Aquarius, bringing explosive movement. This aspect is a great clearinghouse of stuck energy, and can cause a great catharsis and potential healing for some. Everything could stay quite intense till the 31st, when the moon then slows the speed down while in Taurus, and Mercury's rays go into dreamy Pisces. See you in February!

The Changing of the Cultural Guards and the Jupiter/Saturn Conjunction

By  Leo Knighton Tallarico

Every 20 years brings a societal turning point and sacred passage for the greater culture, symbolized by the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. This is so because Jupiter and Saturn are archetypal symbols of the culture. Jupiter is the potential rewards given by the society to "worthy" members, and it is also the progressive social causes that expand it and hopefully inspire the citizenry. Saturn is the rules one is made to follow, and the general structure and institutions that hold the model of reality for the culture. Jupiter and Saturn are also symbolically the good guy and bad guy cops, respectively, who regulate one's life within a culture, and keep one attached to it (It is Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto who bring one beyond societal walls). Jupiter helps a person to stay engaged in society, by giving positive encouragement for jobs well done, and hope for a better future. One can dream about fame, fortune, and the perks for success through Jupiter's optimistic rays; one can also be inspired, through believing in a society's higher values. Saturn, which symbolizes gravity, often rules through fear; and one can feel threatened by poverty, jail, social ostracism, the IRS, and punishment in general, if one does not do what one should. A person may also, with Saturn's influence, develop a soldier's kind of loyalty, to a nation or system that provides an organized guide to secure and "successful" living. Together, Jupiter and Saturn are a potent duo in providing the paradigm for living in the dominant culture.

So, once every 20 years they meet up for a new and revised reign of societal guidelines for living. Each new cycle brings a changing of the guardians of our outer world. Familiar images, from our popular culture, which bring instant recognition, like an archetypal imprint, change faces when Jupiter and Saturn begin anew their 20-year dance. The 20th century has brought all, but one, of these conjunctions in Earth signs, and perhaps that explains, in part, the material and practical emphasis of the last century. Jupiter and Saturn begin a new 20-year cycle on May 28th, 2000 at 22+ degrees of Taurus, an Earth sign once again, before we change to more idealistic air signs in 2020. The history of past Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions sheds light on the meaning of these meetings. Some of the facts surrounding this are fascinating.

For instance, every American president since 1840, who has been in office when the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction occurred, has died before leaving office. Some like FDR and Taft died naturally, while others were assassinated. These include Abraham Lincoln, William McKinley, and John Kennedy. President Reagan had an assassination attempt on him, but survived. That conjunction, in 1980-81, was the 20th century exception to earth signs for the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, and was in air sign Libra. Reagan survived (the attempt was in March of 1981), and he certainly had great influence on the 20-year cycle now finishing. The pope had his life threatened by an assassin also, and was spared, in May 1981. His influence on the last 20-year cycle was also substantial. But in December 1980, when the first pass of the 3-pass Jupiter/Saturn conjunction happened at 9+ degrees of Libra, John Lennon was murdered. The process of changing the cultural guards allowed the perfect symbol of the previous Jupiter/Saturn cycle, from 1961-81 (60's revolution) perish, while meaningful symbols (Reagan and the pope) of the 80's movement to New World Order, lived.

That Jupiter/Saturn conjunction of 1961 brought the changing of the guards from the war years and its aftermath (1940-1960); to rock and roll, youthful rebellion and grand scale Cultural Revolution. John Kennedy was the perfect symbol of the war and its aftermath, from 1940-60. America was the hero nation, to many, of the 2nd world war, confident and bright. We were becoming the envy of much of the world, and the 50's brought American comfort and security, as well as the image of success. When Kennedy was assassinated on Nov.22, 1963, while still in office from the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction at 22+ degrees of Capricorn (on Feb. 18, 1961), the glamour of America died too. The Beatles had formed in Britain, and would appear on American T.V. in Feb. 1964. The changing of the cultural guards was happening. Martin Luther King, in 1963, delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech. Rebellion against the American shining hero image was beginning and the 60's Cultural Revolution was started. . . . .(click to continue)

Escaping the Human Factory Culture Warehouse

metropolis

Whatever parts of your self or your life that remain locked inside the Human Factory Cultural Warehouse have been getting extra help, with powerful astrological aspects, in order to leave the Warehouse's rapidly darkening confines. This factory warehouse has always been reconstructing minds, hearts, and souls to fit the production quotas of the warehouse bosses. Governments, institutions, economic systems, churches, schools, and families are all in service to the needs of the warehouse. Control of resident lives is accomplished through “birth to death” programming, intended to mold belief systems in line with the needs of the warehouse. Nature, natural cycles, sacred passages, universal laws like love and truth, free hearts, souls, and minds are not allowed in the warehouse, as they do not aid its production schedules or security systems. Many people have been so programmed, as to believe that the blue painted ceiling is the true sky, or that the painted earthen colors of the floor are the true Earth.

The system inside the warehouse is airtight, and has conditioned its residents to believe that being outside the iron security of that edifice will mean personal disaster. One is also told to believe that one will have trouble surviving, and will have no chance of thriving outside. Following the rules and staying controlled by warehouse belief systems, one is told, will not only provide the essentials, but also may provide fame and fortune. Religions in service to the warehouse act as if they come from God, but on closer examination are part of the warehouse belief systems, like “survival of the fittest”, “might makes right”, and the belief that some people (or even religions) are superior to other ones. These religions do not possess the necessary love and compassion that exist only outside the warehouse walls. . . . . (click here to continue.)
