Song of the Vagabond

What is the road of the vagabond?
The wild-goose trail that leads beyond,
The path of the wind and the river's bend,
And the star that beckons to Journey's End. . .
~~Don Blanding

Thank you for visiting the world of MY GLASS DUCHESS. We specialize in American glassware and dinnerware as well as paper collectibles of all kinds. But the areas of interest on this page are only a start -- we buy and sell an eclectic array of antiques and collectibles. "Wish lists" are always welcome. So here's a map ... happy collecting!

HAWAIIAN MUSIC! AUCTIONS! POSTCARDS! BLANDING!

The 5th Annual Seattle Slack Key Festival comes to Town Hall and nearby venues the weekend of November 9 and 10, 2013. First-time participants in this event include Palani Vaughan, Roland Cazimero, Benny Chong, Jerry Santos and Patrick Landeza. Returning musicians are Cyril Pahinui, Kamuela Kimokeo, Jeff Peterson, Nathan Aweau, Peter Moon and Jeff Au Hoy. Tickets are available via Brown Paper Tickets.

Currently I am featuring Steiff animals on eBay -- among them are Papa Lion and an untagged doe from the 1950s to 1960s.

Upcoming auctions will include a Steiff Lamby and a 1992 British Collector's limited edition of the 1911 Teddy Bear.

Other eBay listings, both auctions and Buy It Now, include jewelry, postcards and greeting cards, books, magazine ads and collectible glassware. More used or out-of-print books on pottery and porcelain are also available.

Founded in January 2002, my Yahoo group, The Postcard Collectors Club, has grown to over 200 members. This online group is open to everyone who enjoys collecting and sharing postcards.

In January 2000, I launched the Aloha, Don Blanding Collectors Society, which has become a very lively discussion group indeed! In Carmel, California, where Blanding lived in the late 1930s, the Carmel Heritage Society mounted an exhibit of Blanding memorabilia in the fall of 2000. The display was assembled and arranged by members of ADBCS.

A meeting place for collectors of almost anything is My Glass Duchess Wish List , where members may post messages, chat, talk, create databases and upload wish lists and photos to the Files.

Cool, rain showers, fog, maybe a sun break or two -- and an occasional earthquake! -- that's Puget Sound country, and "The Mountain" is sometimes out. On rare days Rainier appears like an enormous scoop of vanilla ice cream just when you least expect it.

On gray days when the mountain decides not to grace the skyline . . . oh, it IS out there, we like to tell visitors, just beyond that dip in the ridge, slightly to the left of those trees . . . well, it does take some imagination. Or perhaps some photos will do. For some wonderful views of Mount Rainier, won't you check out my friend Bob's "Northwest Environmental Notes"?

When you have quiet moment, here's A Little Light Reading, a selection of stories and poems written over many years by my mother.

I hope you've taken a look at our Guestbook, where you may leave comments and suggestions and introduce yourself to other collectors. Opportunities to view and sign the Guestbook appear on this page, and will be added to other segments as well. I look forward to hearing from you . . . enjoy!
